The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (M&E Officer) is responsible for overseeing program monitoring activities, including data verification, project evaluations, and reporting for the CFA SAEE project. The role provides technical support to CFA SAEE staff to enhance the effectiveness of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities. The officer reports to the Project Manager and Senior Management Team.

Key responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement the M&E plan for the CFA SAEE project in collaboration with the project and management teams.
  2. Conduct and coordinate field monitoring and evaluation activities.
  3. Ensure data quality in compliance with the CFA M&E framework.
  4. Provide periodic feedback on monitoring and evaluation findings to the project team.
  5. Verify field officers’ reported data weekly for accuracy and quality.
  6. Assist in designing, coordinating, and conducting project evaluations.
  7. Support the design and execution of Post-Implementation Monitoring Surveys (PIMS).
  8. Compile and verify weekly and monthly reports.
  9. Facilitate learning, best practices, and sharing of performance information within the team.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Statistics, or related fields. An honours degree is an advantage.
  • At least 1 year of experience in monitoring and evaluation, research, or related fields.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in evaluation and research methodologies, including impact evaluations.
  • Experience in developing program monitoring tools and data collection instruments.
  • Competence in fieldwork, data collection, analysis, and M&E report writing.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and management software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, STATA).
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

The ideal candidate should have experience in farming operations, team coordination, and agricultural resource management.

Key responsibilities

  1. Coordinate field teams and secondary school student farmers’ clubs to cultivate school farms.
  2. Implement farm plans as directed by management.
  3. Ensure the timely availability of farming tools, seeds, and other necessary resources in the correct quantity and order.
  4. Work with management to achieve the project’s agricultural objectives.
  5. Educate team members and school-based Agric clubs on best farming practices.
  6. Collaborate with the project manager to execute CFA activities within the contract period.
  7. Maintain periodic records of farming activities and submit weekly progress reports to the project manager.

Qualifications and requirements

  • B.Sc., HND, or equivalent qualification in Agriculture, Farming, or Agricultural Science.
